Service Description: Hosting

This service groups all the Data Centre related services providing Application and Internet Hosting Services within the Data Centres. It provides capacity on the information technology infrastructure (hardware and software). This capability has am preparation, administration and management, user support and reporting activity associated with it. The collective capability enables information technology systems by means of Hosting Services defined as Web Hosting (static, active, web application) or Application Hosting (proprietary, open source, mainframe). The configuration and relationships of these capability components ensures various services levels in terms availability, usability, assurance and adaptability with adherence to ITIL and COBIT through:

  • Storage.
  • Backup.
  • Servers.
  • Network switches DBMS.
  • Application platforms and systems management software.

Hosted Batch Printing This service provides the preparation, formatting, composition and timely printing of source data in a secure and cost effective manner. Printing is the receiving / merging / manipulating of variable data to be printed on predefined templates using high speed digital printers for distribution thereafter: Printing: Actual management printing service which achieves the actual print output requested by customers. Pre-processing: Comprehensive Printing service offering ensures end-to-end delivery and back-end management of a secure printing environment and includes hardware provisioning and installation, network connectivity and access, failover capabilities, backup and restore and other professional services needed to support a dedicated printing environment.

Post-processing:

This service element includes the preparation of media for delivery. This includes all the finishing tasks to be performed on the printed media. Shared VPN This service provides for secure data services for clients in the GOV VPN on the SITA NGN. The GOV VPN is a shared VPN, consisting of a number of departments and organs of state at both Provincial and National level that are combined within one shared VPN enabling: Shared VPN services (Data Only). Providing access to Transversal and Unique Systems including disaster recovery services. Access link infrastructure for connectivity of client sites to the nearest SITA node into the shared VPN. Customer Edge Router Management (Clients own site router equipment). Network Management Services for operational performance monitoring. Service Management.

Dedicated VPN

This services provides for a secure dedicated network environment on the SITA NGN for Data, Voice & Video Data services with access to authorised services in alignment with clients’ business requirements comprising of the following: Dedicated VPN services that provides for fully convergent solutions (Data, Voice & Video). Providing access to Transversal and Unique Systems including disaster recovery services. Access link infrastructure for connectivity of client sites to the nearest SITA node into the Dedicated VPN. Customer Edge Router Management (Client’s own site router equipment). Quality of Service (QoS) for traffic prioritisation. Network Management Services for operational performance monitoring. Service Management.

Fully Outsourced Dedicated VPN

This service provides for a secure Fully Outsourced Dedicated network environment on the SITA NGN for Data, Voice & Video Data services with access to authorised services in alignment with clients’ business requirements and comprise of the following: Fully Outsourced Dedicated VPN services that provide for fully convergent solutions (Data, Voice & Video) as well as taking over ownership of the customer edge, VPN Security and BAS servers. Providing access to Transversal and Unique Systems including disaster recovery services. Access link infrastructure for connectivity of client sites to the nearest SITA node into the Fully Outsourced Dedicated VPN will be owned and managed by SITA. Provision of customer Edge Router equipment where SITA owns, manages, maintains and supports the site routers. Quality of Service (QoS) for traffic prioritisation. Network Management Services for operational performance monitoring. Service Management.

Server Accommodation Facilities

This service provides for the accommodation of client servers on the NGN core and WAN connectivity of the servers at any of SITA Switching Centres leveraging economies of scale in order to provide the service in a cost-efficient and effective manner for all clients through: Housed of high-performance equipment within the core network, which is more cost-effective, as bandwidth capacity management will happen within the core, minimising the traffic load on the edge. Housing of Servers in a secure environment that conforms to MIOS, MISS and other regulatory requirements equipped with UPSs, generators and air-conditioning.

Shared Internet

This service provides Internet access to all clients in the GOV VPN. Bandwidth is allocated on a regional basis and clients share the bandwidth and the proxy services available to the region that their departmental proxy server is located in. Clients do not have any control of the Internet services provided in this environment as bandwidth allocation and proxy filtering is provided and managed by SITA leveraging economies of scale in order to provide the service in a cost-efficient and effective manner for all clients through: Built in upstream anti-spam and antivirus filtering service which checks and filters mail before it traverses the link between SITA and the ISP. Both inbound and outbound mail filtering excluding filtering mails internal to a VPN.

Dedicated Internet

This service is only available to customers who are in their own VPN providing Internet bandwidth that is specifically allocated only to that VPN leveraging economies of scale in order to provide the service in a cost-efficient and effective manner. This service gives the client control of their environment as they can decide on the amount of bandwidth as well as what percentage is allocated to International traffic. The service provides: Built in upstream anti-spam and antivirus filtering service which checks and filters mail before it traverses the link between SITA and the ISP. Both inbound and outbound mail filtering excluding filtering mails internal to a VPN.

Common Assess Point (CAP)

This service provides IP connectivity, on a peering basis, between any external network and the SITA perimeter network for the purpose of IP-based data exchange between that network and the South African Government via the NGN through: Private peering point for the entire NGN. Access only configured to authorised services within specific VPNs. Maintenance of the CAP routers and any data cables attaching the routers to the Telco devices which facilitate the connections.

Remote Access (VPNC)

This service provides remote connectivity to the NGN perimeter network and relevant VPN/s via the SITA VPNC service leveraging economies of scale in order to provide the service in a cost-efficient and effective manner for all clients through: Access configured to authorised services within specific VPNs. Provision of connectivity from a fixed line / LAN environment from one VPN into another. Caters for the mobile workforce as it can be used from any place that the client is able to connect to the Internet. Remote Access (APN) This service provides remote connectivity to the NGN perimeter network and relevant VPN/s via a SITA procured APN, managed and operated by a GSM service provider. The service leverages on the economies of scale in order to provide the service in a cost-efficient and effective manner for all clients. The service is currently only provided via MTN and Vodacom through: Providing access into the entire VPN the end-user is authorised to connect to. Cost-effectively provides remote access to VPNs. Caters for the mobile workforce as it can be used from any place that there is signal on the cellular network the client is using for their APN service.
