PROCUREMENT

Overview

The Procurement Services has been restructured. This included the merging of The State IT Acquisition Centre (ITAC) and SITA’s internal procurement department into the Procurement Services department. The Procurement Services has been divided into three distinct business units to ensure efficiency and focus when delivering on the mandate and fulfilling the vision and mission.

  • The Strategic Sourcing business unit is responsible for the effective sourcing of Hardware, Software and Network goods and services on behalf of government departments and SITA. In addition, it also sources Non-IT goods and services on behalf of SITA itself.  This business unit oversees supplier relationship management and endeavours to use preferred suppliers who can provide the least expensive services and ultimately allow SITA to deliver savings to both clients and SITA.

  • Purchasing and Inventory Management business unit’s responsibility is to ensure the delivery of all purchasing activities against the contracts developed by the Strategic Sourcing business unit.  It undertakes all activities necessary to expedite purchase requests on behalf of SITA and Government. It will endeavour to continuously improve purchasing activities.

  • Procurement Admin, Governance & Compliance business unit is responsible for developing and implementing procurement policies and procedures. The Unit also looks into compliance and governance issues such as risk management, compliance audits and development and application of regulatory frameworks. The Unit guides the e-procurement strategy for SITA and supplier management which includes developing the BEE/HDI/SMME/Regional supplier base and seeks to increase the value of procurement undertaken by public sector and SITA from these BEE/HDI/SMME’s.
