ABOUT EASTERN CAPE

The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) in the Eastern Cape is represented in 5 offices located in East London, Bisho, Port Elizabeth, Umtata and Queenstown. The main office is in East London. The total staff in this region is 115 permanent employees and 34 contractors.

The provision of an IT service to customers is always challenging. All our Sitazens are fully aware of this and are totally committed to providing a service that will enable our customers to achieve their objectives.

We are currently focused on improving the efficiency of all internal processes, providing value to our customers and exceeding their expectations. SITA’s focus on investment in learning will go a long way towards achieving this.

The current services offered to our extensive provincial customer base (Provincial, National and Local Government) includes wide area network services, local area network services, desktop maintenance services, professional services (which include business solutions, business advisory services, commercial off-the-shelf training and project management), information systems security, hosting services and data centre printing services.

The Eastern Cape is actively entering the Local Government space with the first project being connectivity of district and local municipalities. A business advisory service in the form of the Master Systems Plan is the second focus point.

To achieve this, the SITA Eastern Cape regional strategy is to utilize the provincial ICT skills and BEE/SMME business to reach all our customers throughout the second largest province and in so doing act as a catalyst to the local industry. The utilization of ICT learnerships, in conjunction with our customers, will further address this ideal.
