ITA must perform the following functions (as per the SITA Regulations of 1995):

  1. Develop a strategy regarding the convergence of information systems;
  2. Demonstrate the value added by PTN or VAN services provided by SITA;
  3. Prepare a Disaster Recovery Strategy and Business Continuity plan and procedures for mandatory services used by departments;
  4. Set standards regarding the information systems security and the interoperability of such systems;
  5. Certification of information technology goods and services;
  6. Do IT Research on behalf of departments
  7. Provide and maintain transversal systems;
  8. Authenticate products and services acquired via procurement;
  9. Compile and maintain an up-to-date inventory of information systems of departments; and
  10. Provide and maintain related services as per Business Agreements with departments.
